Durga Prasad Jhawar – CEO
A Chartered Accountant by profession DP Jhawar started of his career in the finance field in 1998. In 2005 he joined Edelweiss Financial Services as financial controller covering responsibilities which included finance and acts, taxations,
legal and secretarial, MIS to name a few. He played essential roles in a variety of projects and business such as the due diligence for PE, execution of IPO financing and working on the credit rating of the company. He played a pivotal road in increasing the balance sheet of the company from a 100 Cr to 12000 Cr. while maintaining a diversified liability profile. He created and headed the commodity focused division at Edelweiss from 2008. The division achieved 6-7% peak market share in the precious metals market, 10% share in imports to India of a certain agro commodity, further the division had spread across 9 offshore offices, had 700 employee strength and 25000 Cr turnover.
At Proventus Agrocom, DP brings his extensive experience in creation, management and driving the growth of ventures across the gamut of company activities from finance to distribution to fulfill the role of CEO. Here is knowledge plays an essential role in ensuring the sure footed expansion of Proventus Agrocom across the value chain of various commodity baskets.
Deepak Kumar Agrawal – Head Treasury
Deepak Agrawal has a decade of Experience in Proprietary desk. Prior to being the core team leading the formation of Proventus Agrocom , Deepak had a 10 year long stint at Edelweiss Financial services where he was responsible for management and growth of $20M proprietary fund, focusing on Commodities & FX based out of Dubai. In his stint with Edelweiss he traded across a variety of asset classes and with different teams building a strong background in derivatives trading (both OTC and exchange traded) and risk management. In his career he has delivered good
performance/returns, tight risk management – supported by a highly motivated and growing team. He has experience and knowledge of
- Options trading/Volatility Arbitrage on Index & Stock option(Equities) and FX(USDINR)
- Delta One strategies – Cash and carry arbitrage & Index Arbitrage
- Market Neutral Strategies across International Commodities Exchanges
- FX trading mainly USDINR – Yield Curves and positional
He also complements his trading skills with good relationship management with counterparties/banks/brokers in the business. Working on the same he improved liquidity and reduced cost of capital by getting Credit lines, Margin funding
from the counterparties. Other than business commitments of his Proprietary team, he was part of Executive Committee of the Commodities Group (team of top 10 out of group of 600+), responsible for strategy planning, policy, major investment decisions of the group. At Proventus Agrocom his drive and in depth knowledge of FX and Derivatives trading is put into action as he spearheads
the treasury management team which controls investments, hedging and risk management strategies of the firm.
Shalin Khanna – COO
Shalin Khanna, prior to becoming a part of the core team in the formation of Proventus Agrocom, he spent 10 years of his professional life in various aspects of the risk governance, policies and controls at Edelweiss Financial services. He played a pivotal role in the formation of the Risk Management policies of the treasury department as well as acted core founding member of the Global Risk Group managing risk across asset classes and businesses. In his tenure he has
conceived and implemented innovative uses of technology to enhance operational efficiency implement risk controls and generate essential management reports. As part of his tenure at Edelweiss he played an essential role as the head of the Commodities planning and development team – driving various growth and product management policies. Further his roles as international COO for the commodities department gained him the experience of cross country compliance
and risk management. His Experience ranges across the board of control functions making him ideally suited to develop a robust and flexible operations backbone for long term sustenance and growth This experience of putting in place robust systems and policies with a detailed knowledge of risk management and
technology, is put to use in his role as COO at Proventus Agrocom, where he ensures the creation and execution of daily risk management, MIS reports, accounting and compliance policies which make up the machinery for the execution of commodities business at the firm.
